Nowadays one's internet presence is becoming much easier, what with blogs, much simpler content management scripts, and business pages on social websites. Its getting to the point where many new age professionals are not even purchasing a domain. They just set up their listings on other sites, but if you are really serious about your internet business, then you will want a domain.
When choosing a domain, be very careful to pick a domain name that includes the type of business you are in. An example, my website SparrowMoon.com can actually confuse search engine spiders. Is sparrow moon a bird web site? Is it an astronomy site? Or what? My website, PsychicBitch.com is much easier for the search engine bots to understand. Its obvious we do psychic readings there. The word "bitch" can be a bit confusing, and sometimes we are confused with adult sites. So, take a lesson from me, before you make an absolute decision on the name of your domain, be sure to consider exactly what you are promoting.
You don't have to build a website from scratch to place at your domain address. You can easily set up a blog (which most people cannot tell the difference between a blog and a web site). There are also forums, stores, and other content management scripts that can be installed by your web host.
The need for a web designer is not absolutely necessary. But, learning how to promote your site can be another issue. I can help you to tweak your site code to optimum efficiency. I can give you lots of advice on using social websites like Facebook to increase your website traffic. And, I have many more little tidbits to make managing your website easier and more time efficient. I am happy to offer my consulting services. Please contact me to schedule a call.
